Yosefah Berkowitz

Picture of Yosefah Berkowitz Yosefah Berkowitz attended Duke University School of Law. Upon completion, she became a member of the New York State Bar Association. Yosefah then worked as a litigation attorney for Kaye, Scholar, Fierman, Hayes & Handler before embarking on a second career as a teacher specializing in reading and learning disabilities.

Yosefah received her Masters of Special Education in Varying Disabilities from Florida International University and has worked as a regular classroom teacher, a special needs clinician and an administrator of special services. At the same time, she has maintained an active private practice, assisting individuals develop academic and organizational skills.

Having joined the Neytz haChochma faculty in 2005, Yosefah has become an invaluable resource both as a Reading Specialist and a trainer and supervisor of other staff members who provide intensive reading tutoring to Neytzkids and to students at other schools who benefit from the Neytz out-of-school program.

As the Neytz out-of-school program funded by The Children’s Trust Foundation expands to provide services to more schools, Yosefah’s work load will increase accordingly. She is looking forward to training and supervising a group of reading tutors.
